The ELIMINATE Project

Kiwanis International has joined with UNICEF to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) by 2015. To do this, 129 million mothers and their future children must be immunized. This action will prevent the death of 60,000 babies and 30,000 mothers each year.

Kiwanis Clubs around the world raised more than $100 million to eliminate iodine deficiency in 89 countries in our first Worldwide Service Project, one of the most significant public health success projects of the 20th century. By delivering three doses of a 60 cent immunization we can eliminate MNT, a disease that painfully kills innocent newborns.
