Our mission is to make East Lansing and the surrounding community a better place to conduct activities and supporting programs that serve those with special needs and/or enhance the community.

The following are included in the activities for recent years.

A Parents Guide to Protecting Your Kids

As part of its service commitment, the Kiwanis Club of East Lansing provides and maintains a web site information program directed to parents of late elementary and early middle school youth in order to inform and educate them on parenting techniques that tend to prevent substance abuse and other common adolescent problems. The program will use a "4M's" model of parenting techniques: Modeling, Mentoring, Monitoring and Mandating.

"The M&M's of Parenting" by Terry A. Hagan, Ed.D., Associate Professor, Department of Pediatrics, Michigan State University, College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Hagen, in cooperation with the Kiwanis Club of East Lansing has developed these timely hints on parenting.
